It is also known by many different names in different parts of the globe: Asana, Burmese Rosewood, Kaibocca Wood, Tnug, Sonokembang, Sena, Angsana, Andaman Redwood, etc, are some of the more common names.

The beautiful Amboyna burl comes from the same tree. The tree grows to a height of about 40 meters and has a trunk that measures 2 meters in diameter. All around the tree, you will on many occasions find buttresses extending outwardly and upwards. It is a very hard, dense, and heavy wood.

In some places, the hardwood could exhibit a purple color but mostly it is colored a reddish orange, rose, or reddish tan. If you hold up a piece of this exotic wood to the sun, you will be able to discern the change in its appearance at different angles of light. When you submerge this wood in water, it turns a lovely opalescent color; this is due to a substance that is said to naturally occur in the wood cells.

I want to break down wood and shrubbery, but no wood chipper?

I want to chop all the excess wood and sticks I have in my backyard and use it for compost, but I have no wood chipper. Is there a way I can have someone do this for me for cheap?

perhaps you could ask a neighbor, friend or relative if they have one you could borrow or rent for a small fee or a favor in return perhaps offer to shred some of their branches while your doing yours or something.
the other alternative is to hire one from a rental company but that can get pricey.
failing that you could chop branches into small pieces which i had to do before i was given a shredder.
